  1. Ten years ago a man named John Joe Gormley, Lettergunnell, Esker, Longford was walking to a fair in Granard town. It was four o'clock in the morning. When he was about two miles from home he saw a man standing along the side of the road.
He asked him was he going to Granard fair and he told him he was. So the two men set off at a strong walk for about a mile. They saw a small thatched house up a piece from the road. Mr. Gormley said there was a wake in it and they would go up to it for an hour or two.
