  1. I heard this story from my father. It is said in my district that there was a poor woman who had seven children and who lived in Colmcille, Colmcille Parish, Co. Longford. There was a well near her house. It was a very large one and there was an iron lid on it.
    One day she put some of the children to bed, tidied up the house and went out to the well. When she had the lid raised and her gallon of water lifted she heard one of the children cry. She ran home then, and left the lid raised.
