On this page

There are two forges in this locality, one belonging to Patrick Kiernan of Esker, and the other to Mallon, Drumnacooha. Both these forges are thatched, although they are many forges throughout the county which are covered with many materials, thatch, and galvanized iron, although the latter is not supposed to be a good material, because it gets rusted and burned after a short time.
Inside the forge there are an anvil, and bellows; the anvil is made of steel and iron. A part of the anvil is called a "horn", and there are two holes which are used for
