    In this neighbourhood there are a few quarries out of which the raw material was got. When it was broken up into small pieces and some of it was placed on the bottom of the kiln and on top of it was put a sheet of turf. This was continued until the the kiln was full.
    The turf was set on fire and they continued burning for three days and after that the stones had crumbled into lime. After some time the lime was taken out and put in boxes it was left until the spring.
