  1. Saint Patrick is the Patron saint of this district. The 17th of March is a Holiday in Honour of him. Saint Patrick was invited to a dinner in Bawn. There was a grew hound pup cooked for it. At that time the dog's hair used to grow up to his head. He rubbed the dog and from that their hair grew down and he said, that he would be a companion for gentlemen to the end of time. Then he got up and went out and left a curse as far as he could see.
