  1. An old cure for mumps is - to put a donkey's winkers on the person and lead them round the pig-sty three times.
    When two people of the same name are married the leavings of their break-fast is a cure for whooping-cough.
    A cure for warts is to get a black snail and rub it to the wart then hang the snail on the thorn of a Black-thorn bush and when the snail is withering away the wart will wither away. The snail must be found by chance it will not do to go looking for it.
    A cure for a sprain is - Yarrow, Blackhead leaves and Elder bark. Fry on a pan in un-salted butter. The juice of the herbs is extracted and turns the liquid to a green colour. It is this
