  1. There was a school on Peter Mc Guires [?] land and the walls are to be seen yet not far from Kilmahon road. The master or teachers name was Walshe. It was not a national school It was not a mixed school, there were two schools a boys and a girls.

  2. There was a hedge school in Dernacross where Michael Mallon has his forge now. That is where my grand father went to school and the only book used was the old universal. There were no rulers over the school at that time. The
