Straw boys visit on almost every occasion. When they have good manners they are welcomed and given drink but when they have bad behaviour the doors are shut on them.

Dolls are made of wood and of rags and paper. Hand-balls and cricket-balls are made from yarn got by ravelling old stockings, Cricket bats were made from one-inch boards; the better ones from split ash.
