- (continued from previous page)and the devil was uneasy and he tried to get up of the chair but he was held fast. He began to shout for Bill. Bill asked him what was wrong and he asked Bill to take him out of the chair and he would give him fifty pounds more and not ask him to come for six months. Bill agreed and took him out of the chair and he got his money and promised he would meet him in the wood when the six months would be up. Bill worked away as usual till the six months were up again. When twelve oclock came Bill did not go he was working away at a loy. The devil came again and asked Bill why didnt he go according to promise. He said he was making a loy for a neighbour and that he would be done in a few moments. The devil said he would not wait much longer and Bill asked him to take the sledge and help him. The devil took the sledge and started to sledge away. When Bill got him sledging he left the forge and said he would be back after a while. When Bill went the devil tried to stop sledging but he couldn't. He had to keep on pounding. He started to roar for Bill to come to him. Bill came and asked what was wrong and the devil said he would give(continues on next page)
