  1. About 70 years ago or so in the County Leitrim there lived a very cruel landlord the Earl of Leitrim.
    His father was a good kind man but his mother possessed quite the opposite dispositions.
    The old Earl was building Rynn castle the night of the big wind and the boy that was to succeed him, and who had all his fathers good qualities took fright on that night lest the castle should be blown down and his heart being a bit weak it caused his death so that the cruel man about whom I am going to write, came into possession.
    About this time any person not having a lease of his holding could be turned out whether the rent was paid or not. Lord Leitrim no sooner came into power then he began his cruel evictions. The people were hurled out of their homes in all directions and consequently he was much hated. He also had possessions in County Donegal where the same things occurred.
    Every year he gathered a meeting of his tenants and compelled them to make speeches in praise of him. This they had to do or lose their homes. He had note takers taking down those speeches and
