  1. I know a good many place names around my home. The high field because there was a big hill in it. The whinny field because a heap of whins grew in it. The Danes field is another name for a field not far from my home, it got its name because it is said that the Danes built (his) huts there and lived in them until they were defeated by the Irish at the battle of Clontarf. The field of the Rath because there is a rath in it. The field of the mass rock because there used to be mass said on it in the Penal days.
