    were there, but there was neither dog nor rope to be seen.
    That dog and the straw rope by which he was tied to the leg of the chair I saw quite plainly with the light of a fine turf fire on a hearth. We had no dog then, and there was no dog in the house.
    My brother could not and did not see him because he had not entered the room.
    The mystery I never could solve.
    I was then about eight years old, and I am now 57 years.

  2. Mr Hubert Reynolds, Rooskeynamona, Mohill, Co. Leitrim had a strange experience one night shortly after nightfall in a field near his own home.
    He had arranged to meet a party of boys who belonged to Cloonboney: a townland on the other side of the bog opposite Rooskeynamona, and they were to go to a dance.
    The party was to cross the bog to his land, and then, on to the main road by a pass.
    Hubert spent some time waiting at the gate where the party was to come out on the road. At last, he heard the laughs and shouts of the approaching crowd which he could see by the light of the moon. He walked in on the gate and down the pass which led by the side
