- Long ago people used to get married in May because they thought this month lucky in honour of our Lady. They arrange it to take place on a Wednesday and for the bride to leave with the groom on Friday because Friday is flitting day. When a person went match making they brought some drink with them. Then if the father was pleased they had a big feast in the bride's house.
