  1. The people long ago made everything they used. They were skillful and handy. One of the old crafts which they had was Basket-making. They cut sally rods in the spring time and left them to season until the winter. Then they got a slat and made a hoop and plaited the rods through it. They made baskets of different shapes. They also made their own soap and glue. It was from the fat of the cow that they made the soap. It was from the horns of the cow they made the glue. They made their own dishes & mugs out of wood. There was a man called a cooper and he used to make churns, Keelers, trenchers and the wooden cup for the churn.
