  1. My father told me the style of dress worn by men forty years ago was much different from that worn now.
    The coat worn by the men was made of frieze, with a velvet collar. On the coat were three brass buttons in front and two at the back. They wore nice woollen cashmere knee breeches with three brass buttons on the outer side of each knee, long grey stockings and black shoes. The coat was the claw hammer style, that is cut away in front and sloped to the back.
