abode of the celebrated Gunning family, of which three sisters married three Dukes. On the death of her husband one of them (married) became a poor Clare. There are several other beautiful spots - the hill of Berries, Yew Point etc.- All full of history if only time and space would permit to describe them. We omit all mention of the Goldsmith country on the Westmeath side. It would require a special article to do it justice.
