  1. The following tales are related to me by Michael Sweeney, who heard them told by the older people. Many stories about robberies and murder which took place along the old coach roads, especially between Derryhawn cross-roads and Corlea crossroads, in this parish. Along this road Bianconi cars passed on the way from Dublin to Galway. There was a place known as Derryhawn na Lata from the fact that the people made hats in this townland.
