  1. The people long ago used to make dolls out of straw and dress them with fancy material. They used also make toy rabbits and other toy dolls the same way. The women in the olden times used to make fancy dresses and fancy shoes. The shoes were made from paper and cardboard and they painted them to match the dresses.
    Toys that boys made. Top-making.
    The boys used to get a piece of round wood about 2 and a half inches long and 2 inches wide. They used to pare it off at the end and hammer a spike up through it. Then they had a top made.
