    These are the names of various kinds of potatoes sown in this district:- Kerr's Pinks," "Black Champion" "Sharps Express" "Duke of York" "Epicures" "Old Champions" "Flounders" "Aran Banners", "Fractors", "Leinster Wonders", "Butes" "British Queens" "American Roses" etc. "Kerrs' Pink" grows very well in this district, also "Aran Banners" and "Epicures". People used to get starch from potatoes in the following manner. They used to wash the raw potatoes well and grate them into a basin. The grated potato contained a lot of water and some small fibrous substance. After a while people squeezed the solid fibrous substance and left the water in the basin. This water was black.
