  1. There was an old school in Connell's field in the townsland of Ballinacliffy about 90 years ago. It consisted of a small hut. My father's mother went to school there. A man by the name of Michael Mc Lynn taught in it. It was a very small school. The children at that time used to write on nothing but slates. The children also used to pay the teacher at that time. They were taught English writing, drawing and Arithmetic. The people of this district
