It is so named as the fields remain a whitish colour for two or three months of Spring every year.
On my Grandfather's farm in the village of Ballymore there is a field known as the Monastery Field because years ago there was a monastery in the place. Another field is known as the Glebe as at one time it was Glebe land. Right at the back of this house there is a big rocky hill with many large trees growing there. This is known as Kearneys' Rock.
