- The people of this district were fond of carrying out old marriage customs. They only got married on certain days of the week because they had a saying, Monday for wealth, Tuesday for health, Wednesday the best day of all, Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses, Saturday no day at all.
When the wedding was over the bride used to get on the horse with her husband and they used to gallop home. When they reached the gate of his house the bridegroom lifted the bride off the horse and carried her into the house.
If they got married on shrove-Tuesday the bride had to eat six pancakes for her supper.- Collector
