    Folklore Old School.
In a field called Lugahanna on the way to Loughnavalley there was an old school. The teacher was Patrick Martin. He taught in the ruins of an old hen house. He stopped with an old pair called Gannons. He stayed there for three years.
The pupils used to attend at night and pay one penny per week. He had ten or twelve pupils, mostly men. He was very fond of History, and we are told that every person who went to him got a wonderful knowledge of the history not alone of his country but of many foreign countries and he learned it by heart.
He also taught Irish and was very fond of it. He had the little book called “Reeddamadaisy”. He taught them the plain words of the Catechism.
