  1. Weather lore. Animals
    Cows, sheep, goats or grazing animals eating greedily at or befor daylight is a sure sing of a wet day
    Rabbits:-
    When these have a thick and heavy coat in Autumn a hard winter may be expected.
    Sheep:-
    When these animals are seen drinking in winter frost may be expected. At other seasons, drought
    Dogs:-
    When dogs are noticed sleeing and then eating grass rain is not far off
    Cats:-
    Catching and scraping timber denotes rain and wind, facing fire rain
    Fish:-
    Turning up in water denotes thunder
    Eels
    These are certain weather guides. When seen going downstream during the day or slowly disappearing into holes thunder may follow. Then moving fast at night good weather; when lying up turned, heat, when very still in water
