- The Screeching gander of Milltown Parish
About 100 years ago Rev Fr. Kearney was PP of Baile an Choraige ( Eng. Ballincurra) Moyvore Co. Westmeath.
He lived in Baltacken near the residence of John Keane who resides there now. The PP's landlord was one of the Bannon family who lived in Rathcastle House Rathcastle near Mearscourt. For reasons unnessary to go into, his landlord evicted Fr. Kearney from his home in Baltacken.
Shortly after the eviction, Bannon died and was at once changed into the "The Screeching Gander" of the district. The gander was continually flying and screeching from Mullac an Iomaire, Rathcastle(continues on next page)
