  1. Weeds and herbs
    The weeds most injurious to grasslands are thistles, nettles and dockings. Under the Noxious Deeds Act farmers are required to rid their lands of those weeds. As well as keeping grass from growing the seeds are scattered by the wind and take root in neighbouring farms. The shoots of young nettles are chopped and mixed through meals and fed to turkeys and ducks.
