  1. These facts were told to me by Bernard Molphy a native of Emper aged 76 years
    The franciscan abbey of Multyfarnham is situated a short distance from the village of Multyfarnham and overlooking a beautiful lake known as Derravaragh.
    In the year 1270, this Abbey was founded by William Delamere. How the Franciscans got their name was because this Order was establis by St. Francis of Assisi in Italy.
    The cannon balls that Cromwell used in battering down the Abbey are there still. This monastery was burned twice by Cromwell soldiers.
