  1. On St. Stephen's Day the boys and grown-up men of this district gather together and go in a procession from house to house with decorated bushes singing
    The wren, the wren, the king of all birds,
    On St. Stephen's Day was caught in the furze.
    Though she is little her family is great
    Rise up kind lady and give us a treat.
    We followed the wren these years or more
    Through dirty mud and yellow clay.
    We caught the wren and we shaved his beard.
    I wish you a happy Christmas and a merry New Year
    With your pocket full of money and your house full of beer.

    On St. Brigid's Day the people make crosses from rushes and they hang them
