  1. I live in the parish of Castletown-Geoghegan in the townland of Monaghanstown and in the Barony of Moycashel. There are four families living in the townland and about fourteen people. The most common name is Fallon. There are three slated houses and one thatched in the district.
    Monaghanstown got its name from a monastery that was situated there years ago. There is one person over seventy in the townland and her name is Miss Mary Brennan, Monaghanstown, Castletown-Geo.
    Houses were more numerous locally in former times. People did not emigrate to foreign countries. The townland is not mentioned in any song or saying. The land is good but some of it is hilly and boggy and there are three
