  2. Candles.
    Over 50 years ago candles were both manufactured and burnt in the town. In Kilbeggan they were called the tallow candle. They were composed of grease with a wick in the centre. Previous to them, dried and greased rushes, were burnt.
    Beasoms.
    They were made from heather and used as brooms and to be seen in use still.
    Brushes.
    They were made from the horse's mane.
