  1. Local Marriage Customs
The months of May and August are regarded unlucky months to get married.
    "Monday for health.
    Tuesday for wealth.
    Wednesday best day of all.
    Thursday for losses.
    Friday for crosses.
Saturday is no day at all."
Matches were made and fortunes were arranged by the parents in the home before the marriage. Money was given as dowry but never stock nor goods. We have no recollections of marriages taking place in the houses. Several customs were observed on the wedding day, such as, presents been given to the girl getting married. The man was supposed to enter the chaple first, as by that custom he was to live longer. The married couple were supposed to come home some different road from the road they went.
