  1. There was an old road from Carlanstown to Kells which was supposed to be haunted. There was a poor man living about two or three miles from Kells, He went to Kells one Christmas Eve and he decided to buy a chair and a packet of candles so that when he would be coming home he would sit down on the chair and light the candles in a ring round him at the haunted place on the road and frighten the people going home. He did so. and a great people going home from Kells came near to where he was and ran screaming.
This man was out in the field beside the road and saw the light and went to the ditch and when he saw what it was he went out to him and hunted him home
