  1. About 20 years ago a horse race was started where the Briscoes live now in Reverdale, Raharney.
There were about 20 horse competing in the race and one of the animals was a grey mare. The race went on round by Sion Hill and back in through Raharney. There was a gold cup for the winner and the grey mare won it. There was great rejoicing when the people heard that the mare won and in honour of her the Briscoes carved the cup on the lodge house where the Byrnes live now. There was a song made about the mare and here is a verse of it.
