It was believed long ago that certain people and things used to take the butter off the churn and we have a very good example of it in the story which I shall relate.
One day as the priest of Killskyre was going on a sick call he went across a field as a short cut.
On his way he came across a ball of yarn and thinking it was belonged to the housekeeper he brought it home to her.
When he reached home he scolded the housekeeper for loosing it but she had her own ball of yarn and she was able to prove that it was not hers. The next morning when they went to the churn they found it filled to the top with beautiful golden butter and they knew that it was the ball of yarn which brought it there and that it belonged to someone else.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
