    cures chilblains.
    The pox on spines of cows can also be cured by Lil Fitzsimons' grandmother Mrs. Kelly of Abbeylara, who makes this ointment from herbs.
    A spinning wheel and loom are also in use to this day by Mary Dunne's great grandmother from which cloth is made.

  2. There are many other industries carried on around the district of Clonmellon and Killallon besides basket-making, soap-making and the making of calf-baskets.
    For example rush-candles were also made long ago and some very old people make these candles yet.
    This is how the people used to make them.
    First of all many large rushes had to be gathered in a bog, brought home and left to dry for many days.
