    Bacon was generally eaten. Fish was eaten also. Cabbage, turnips, and carrots were eaten. The people ate two or three eggs each on Easter Sunday morning. Noggins were used before cups became common.

  2. Oaten bread and potato bread were usually made in the district in olden times.
    Bread was made from oats and wheat ground locally. Grind stones were used locally long ago.
    Potato cake, Boxty bread, and oaten bread were eaten. Boxty bread was made from mashed raw potatoes and flour kneaded with water.
    Oaten bread was made from oaten meal, bread soda, salt, and kneaded with water.
