    because there is a big bush growing in the centre of it, the "Firs" because at one time such a number of firs grew there that the surface of the field could not be seen.

    The following place names are in Crowenstown locality:_
    The "Horse Pool" so called because passers-by usually turn their horses in there to get a drink of water.
    "Peggie's Gate", so called because a girl name Peggie Lynch lived there, and the remains of the house are to be seen today,

    " Burngurp " - " Bothar na gCorp " because the road leads to the local graveyard.
