  1. There is a field in Martinstown, Delvin called the "Castle Field" because the ruins of an old castle which was used by Cromwell are situated in it.
    In Southill, Delvin there is a field called the "Tobacco Field" because tobacco used to be grown in it about forty years ago.
    "Gee's Field" is situated in Balrath, Delvin. It is so called because it is situated opposite the house where a man named Henry Gee used to teach school.
