  1. One evening, late, Peggie Connell of Sheepstown was thinking of going to the town. Before she went, she said that she would take in the clothes off the hedge. When she went out, she saw four young horses grazing nearby. She thought that they were Mr Seery's horses.
When she was gathering the clothes she gave them three big shakes and the horses gave a terrible look and galloped off into Clyne's lake. Peggie did not know what to do, so she went over and asked Mr Seery where were his horses and he said "There in the shed." She asked him to look and see, and he looked and they were there all right. He told her that more than that of horses went into it and never came out of it, for that lake is enchanted.
