  1. The following prayer was said at night in olden times.
As I lay down my head to sleep I give my soul to God to keep and if I die before I wake I pray to God my soul to take. There are four corners on my bed, there are four angels round my head, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John God bless this bed that I lay on. I go to my bed as I go to my grave begging of Jesus my soul to save.
O Bright Queen of Heaven and God as my flower and Jesus be with me at my last dying hour.
A prayer that was said in the morning when getting up.
May Mary Christ and the saints be between us and harm. Mary and her Son, Patrick with his staff Martin with his mantle Brigid with her hood Michael with his shield and God before them all with his strong right arm Amen.
God bless and save us all may Patrick Brigid and Columkille guard each wall. May the Queen of Heaven and the angels bright keep us in our house from harm this night.
