  1. The local fairs are held in Castlepollard. The cattle fairs are held on the second Tuesday of each month and the pig fair on the previous day. They are held on the square. The fairs used to be held at a crossroads.
    Sometimes buyers come to the farmer's house to buy lambs or calves and bring them away in a lorry.
    Luck-penny is given with each animal sold half a crown is given with a calf one shilling or two
