    Mark Neill, Streamstown, lent a donkey to his neighbour, Jimmy Clinton. Soon after the donkey died and James Smyth composed this poem about it.

    Young bachlors of every station
    High and low where ere you be
    Who wish to win the admiration
    Of the ladies, list to me.
    Once they looked on me with scorn
    Now I am their darling boy
    Since that bright and happy morn
