  1. One day a farmer decided to go to Mullingar fair. Next morning he was up at daybreak and got ready for the fair. He had the mare ready for the road in a short time and started at about four o'clock. When he was near Crookedwood he met a little man who asked him to sell the horse. The farmer agreed and the little man gave him a purse, saying "you can leave, the mare inside in the stable". When the man looked around he saw a grand row of stables and he left
