  1. About the year 1842 when Carrick Chapel Co. Cavan was built a monster meeting was held on the rock of Carrick. Fr. Tom Maguire of Clones who was then a priest in Dublin was invited to preach that day. Fr. Tom was a great Irishman and he often defied the English government in Dublin. Crowds came every direction to hear him speak that day.
