There was a blacksmyth near his fields and it is said he would see the pony galloping round on the forth during the day. It is said that when this man was living the little men would come in through the door and it locked. This is a thrue story told about Paddy McCabe who lived in Ballymanaus years ago.

    Whern is about 4 miles from this school. It has the ruins of an old abbey with part of a round tower. There is a burial ground around the ruins.
