    the bride and other girls present. They were given food and drink, and after some time they usually went away peacefully. But if they were not allowed in, or being allowed in and were badly treated, they became angry and had revenge by doing harm and destroying property outside. These men were called "Straw-men".
    Later on, it became impossible to satisfy these "straw-men", and in revenge they did so much destruction, that the custom was publicaly condemned, and custom died out.
