There are no ancient crosses in this parish but there is a standing stone. It is situated in the townland of Clogher, Rathkenny The townland is locally known as the Sheanh Bhaile. It is situated in a field owned by a man, named Walter Govern and is about five feet in height and irregular in shape. It is supposed to be down very deep in the ground and according to local tradition there is a crock of gold beneath it.
The story is also handed down that a life will be lost in trying to get this gold and that is the reason no attempt has been made to unearth it.(2)
At Midtown, Rathkenny, on the lands of Captain Hornship there is a Druid's Altar Cromlech. Here, one enormous stone is supported by two pillars of stone. Formerly there were three supporting stones but the third one has disappeared
