    the system of farming from tillage to grazing and caused great unemployment and the decline of the local "Big Houses"-Husseys,Tiernans ,Blakes and caused the hope to emigrate mostly to Ameerica.the land is hilly and very ferlile and contains some of the best fattening land in Meath.On the erorth west side of Rathkenny school there is a wood called the De Bathe family landlords of Ladyrath.There is only one small stream in the in the townland.
