The teacher told us the following:-
One of his most daring feats was the robbery of the mail coach at Balrenny crossroads. He had a number of scarecrows standing at Mrs Mc Donagh's gate. When the coach came near Collier shouted to the driver to halt and then shouted at the dummies "Do not fire till I tell you." The driver and passengers thought there was a crowd and allowed themselves to be robbed.- Collector
