    To bring away or take away a live coal from a house on a monday morning, to light a pipe, or another fire etc supposed to be unlucky - it took away the luck from that house

    Unlucky to cut a lone white thorn bush. He who did so incurred the anger of the "Good People" + was punished by ill-luck, sickness or death.
    Red-haired woman
    Unlucky to meet a red haired woman going to the fair
    Salt on a Setting of eggs
    If I went to Mrs Smith for a setting of eggs I'd ask her to throw a pinch of salt on them to leave the luck with me, + this didn't thereby take from her own luck in doing so.
